The Traditional Brick & Stone Maranello brick was chosen in the construction of the Melia Hotel as the new building overlooks the historical high level bridge that was opened by Queen Victoria in 1849. The High level bridge sits on five large masonry piers that span the River Tyne making it important to select a suitable facing brick that complements the historic architecture designed by Robert Stephenson.
