All your frequently asked brick questions
What are facing bricks?
Facing bricks are durable construction materials that are produced to be the visible external layer to a building's exterior, designed to offer aesthetic appeal, durability and structural strength.
The most common type of facing brick in the UK is manufactured from natural clay, fired in a kiln to produce a durable, weather-resistant long-lasting brick.
These bricks are produced in a wide range of textures and colours including reds, browns, buffs, whites, blacks and greys.
How durable are your bricks?
All bricks offered by Traditional Brick & Stone are rated F2 for frost resistance - the highest classification under the British Standard. This means they are engineered to withstand the UK's harsh weather conditions, including repeated freeze-thaw cycles, without compromising the building's integrity. Whether you are building a new home or restoring a historic property, our bricks are built to last.
Can I request brick samples?
Traditional Brick & Stone have a dedicated well stocked brick samples unit in the UK that produces sample brick panels of all our main range. Simply browse our brick selector, find the brick you are interested in and request up to 3 free samples from the form provided.
As well as mortared panels we also offer samples in the form of 3 loose bricks (a brick box) and for certain projects a 60 brick sample to enable developers to produce site samples and dry walls to give a better idea on the texture and colour variation of the selected brick.

Are bricks eco friendly?
Bricks are manufactured from natural clay and are exceptionally durable, with well-maintained brickwork capable of lasting for centuries. Their long service life and low maintenance requirements can reduce the need for replacement materials over the lifetime of a building.
With the ever increasing need to reduce your carbon footprint, bricks have a high thermal mass, meaning they can absorb, store and release heat slowly. This helps regulate indoor temperatures reducing the requirement for energy consumption in buildings.
Traditional Brick & Stone is also ISO 14001:2015 certified, a global standard that underscores our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and underscores our commitment to sustainability across our business.
Can we use your bricks as brick slips for internal feature walls?
We have a bespoke cutting facility that is operated by our sister company TBS Cladding Solutions. Many of our bricks are becoming increasingly popular in the brick slip format for projects including feature walls, external cladding, kitchens, bathrooms and fireplaces.
